DENNIS G. LYONS |

Dennis G. Lyons joined Consolidated Edison Company of New York in 1959 and recently completed 48 years of active service. After several assignments he began his investigative career in the Property Protection Bureau where his responsibilities included collection of unpaid bills, skip tracing, tampering and theft of services investigations. In 1970 he was promoted to General Investigator in the Law Department where he was assigned to investigate various negligence cases against the Company including personal injury, property damage and contractual issues arising out of gas, steam and electric operations and also motor vehicle accidents and other matters. He quickly rose to Associate Chief Investigator supervising more than fifteen investigators and support personnel. Dennis’s career advanced with his promotion to Chief Suit Adjustor and, presently, Manager of the Litigation Section.
His primary duties currently include investigating, evaluating and negotiating complex legal matters, at all stages of litigation, throughout in the City of New York, Long Island and Westchester County. Many of these matters also involve environmental, health and safety, and public safety issues. Dennis played a key role in investigating and disposing of over 200 personal injury and property damage claims of PCB exposure to New York City firemen who responded to a transformer fire at the company’s power plant in Staten Island. He also played a significant role in the personal injury and property damage matters arising out of a steam explosion that caused asbestos exposure in the Gramercy Park section of New York City.
Among his professional affiliations, Dennis is a New York State Licensed Private Investigator and a member of the Associated Licensed Detectives of New York State, where he’s the Regional Director for Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Mr. Lyons is a Peace Officer, Licensed Process Server, Department of Consumer Affairs City of New and a New York State Notary Public. He is also a member of the International Police Association (IPA) and Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
Dennis is a member of the Society of Professional Investigators, rising through the organization to serve as President. As a Past President, Dennis currently serves on the Board of Directors and is the Nominating Committee Chair.
In just the last few years, Dennis has received the following awards: · International Police Association – Dedication and Support of New York City Police Department. · International Organization of Black Security Executives · Biological Chemical and Computer Terrorism Award · Dennis also is a member of the Franklin Square & Munson Fire Department and several other firematic organizations. He received a Town of Hempstead award for “The Heroic Act of Saving a Life” and “Chief Award for Exemplary Service and Heroism”
Last year Dennis was elected for a third term as Fire Commissioner of his community in Franklin Square, New York. In that capacity he has fiduciary and administrative responsibility for 138 firefighters, 19 pieces of equipment, building and grounds and a budget exceeding $2.5 million. He is a member of:
